TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP
REALTOR® – PRIMARY
Select this membership type to designate Bay East Association of REALTORS® as your primary local association.
- You will also receive membership to the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).
- The MLS and key are optional items for this membership.
REALTOR® – SECONDARY
Select this membership type if your primary REALTOR® membership is going to remain active at another Local REALTOR® association and you would like to add Bay East Association of REALTORS® as an additional (Secondary) Local association membership.
- You will continue to receive membership to the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) through your primary REALTOR® association.
- The MLS and key are optional items for this membership.
HONORARY
Bay East Honorary, C.A.R. Honorary, and NAR Emeritus memberships are granted to REALTOR® members with a history of outstanding service to Bay East, C.A.R. and NAR.
There are criteria requirements for each honorary applicant that are listed in the applications below:

Platinum Affiliate
Platinum Affiliate membership is for individuals engaged in activities related to the real estate profession who do not qualify for REALTOR® membership.
MLS ONLY
Select this if you only need MLS access. This subscription does not include REALTOR® benefits. The eKey is subscription optional.
CO-OP KEY
If you are an active Supra® keyholder through one of our data share partners MetroList or BAREIS, this subscription provides you with access in the Bay East key coverage area.
Licensed Assistant or Secretary
Licensed clerical members are individuals who have a real estate license that is hanging with a Broker and works under the direct supervision of a Bay East MLS member. They can only perform MLS administrative and clerical tasks that do not require a real estate license or appraiser’s certification or license.
- This membership includes the benefits included with REALTOR® membership.
- A Licensed Assistant assists one specific member, and a Licensed Secretary may assist several members in the same office.
Unlicensed Assistant or Secretary
Unlicensed clerical members are individuals under the direct supervision of a Bay East MLS member. They can only perform MLS administrative and clerical tasks that do not require a real estate license or appraiser’s certification or license.
- An Unlicensed Assistant membership is for access to assist one specific member, and an Unlicensed Secretary membership allows an individual to assist an office.
Step-by-Step guide to becoming a
Bay East REALTOR®
1) Take a pre-licensing course and pass the real estate exam with the CA Department of Real Estate.
2) Join a brokerage whose broker is a members of Bay East.
3) Complete the Bay East New Member Application. Bay East will submit the application to your broker for approval.
4) Once your application is approved, we will contact you for payment.

5) Attend the New Member Orientation and Code of Ethics classes within 60 days of approval and payments. MLS Subscribers must also attend the MLS Basics class.
6) Review and take advantage of the member benefits Bay East offers to help you succeed in your career as a real estate professional.
