Honorary Membership Overview
Honorary Membership recognizes outstanding REALTOR® members who have dedicated decades of service to the real estate profession and to the associations that support it. Whether at the local, state, or national level, these individuals have made significant contributions and demonstrated long-term commitment to their profession.
The benefit of Honorary Membership is the waiver of membership fees and acknowledgement of the decades of commitment and service these individuals have given.

Please be advised that the waived dues may be considered taxable income, and we recommend consulting with your tax advisor for further guidance.
Bay East Honorary
Bay East Honorary is granted to REALTOR® members who meet the following criteria:
- Membership Duration: At least 30 years of active membership and contribution to the Bay East Association of REALTORS®.
- Age Requirement: 70 years or older.
- Service Requirement: Served on a Bay East committee, work group, or task force for a minimum of three (3) years.
“Service” includes fulfilling the role of an officer, director, or member of a committee, work group, or task force, meeting attendance requirements (no more than two missed meetings or 25% of scheduled annual meetings).
C.A.R. Honorary
C.A.R. Honorary is awarded to REALTOR® members of the State Association who meet the following qualifications:
- Membership Duration: A minimum of 25 years of C.A.R. membership.
- Age Requirement: 75 years or older.
NAR REALTOR® Emeritus
NAR REALTOR® Emeritus recognizes REALTOR® members with:
- Membership Duration: A cumulative 40 years of membership in the National Association of REALTORS®.
- Service Requirement: At least one year of service at the national level, such as:
- NAR officer or director.
- Committee member.
- Federal Political Coordinator.
- Global Ambassador or Coordinator for countries with NAR reciprocal agreements.
