- Why serve on a Committee?
In addition to specific expectations for each Committee/Work Group/Task Force, the members attend committee meetings, be aware of its purpose, and participate in the implementation of its Action Plan. See full list of Committees, Work Groups and Task Forces. Bay East committees vary in size, topic, and requirements.
Committee members are appointed annually by the Chair, Vice-Chair, and incoming Vice-Chair, subject to board approval, around November the prior year to the start of the term.
Be a part of the decision-making process, get to know colleagues with similar interests, and gain knowledge about specific areas of the association.

- Why serve as Vice Chair?
Committee Vice Chairs are responsible for helping the Committee Chair lead meetings, set agendas and carry out the committee’s action plan. Committee Vice Chairs are expected to ascend to the chair position the following year.
Committee Vice Chairs are appointed for a one-year term by the incoming President and participate in an interview process.
To grow your leadership skills by assisting the Chair lead committee meetings, set the committee’s direction and carry out its action plan.

Committee Chairs are appointed by the President for a one-year term.
Committee Chairs are responsible for setting the direction of the committee, leading meetings, setting agendas, and carrying out the committee’s action plan. Committee Chairs are expected to collaborate with all other Bay East committees and work groups.

Bay East Board of Directors serve as the governing body of the association. They approve new or changing policies and serve as trustees to serve the best interest of the membership in all matters pertaining to the community and to encourage/promote forward thinking. Directors communicate pertinent information to the membership and obtain feedback from the membership.
Bay East Members who have served on a Bay East committee for a minimum of two consecutive years and is currently serving on a committee the year immediately preceding the date of nomination may be eligible to apply to serve as a Director. Directors are appointed by the Nominating Committee for a two-year term serving the members at-large or the Platinum Affiliates.
Be an integral part of the governance of the Association and represent the diverse Membership. Being a Director keeps you abreast of industry issues ensuring that you’re the knowledgeable real estate professional for your clients.

Bay East Appointed C.A.R. Director

- Why serve as a C.A.R. Director?
Bay East Members who have served on a Bay East Committee for at least two years, may be eligible to apply as a Bay East appointed C.A.R. Director. Bay East appointed C.A.R. Directors represent Bay East’s diverse membership interests at the state level and attend three business meetings a year.
Apply to serve as a Bay East appointed C.A.R. Director via online application and interview the Bay East Officers. Applications are available starting March. New Directors will be provided a mentor.
Bay East is actively looking for new leaders to get involved at the state level. Members can demonstrate their service by participating in committee meetings and serving on the California Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors.
Members who serve at C.A.R. gain valuable information and insights on real estate market conditions, public policies related to real estate and home ownership, and trends in the industry and profession that can be shared with clients and colleagues – adding to your value proposition as a real estate professional. They are also an integral part of the decision-making process for the association.

Bay East appointed NAR Directors represent Bay East and California at the national level and attend two governance meetings a year.
Bay East Members who have served on a Bay East Committee for at least two years and have served as a Bay East appointed C.A.R. Director, may be eligible to apply as a Bay East appointed NAR Director.
Represent the Bay East and California members at the national level and network with REALTOR® and Affiliate colleagues throughout the nation.
