The nation's housing affordability crisis is fed by economic, demographic, and regulatory characteristics. The issue will not go away on its own. Because wages have not kept pace with rising home prices and rents, millions of American households struggle to meet their housing costs. REALTORS® participate in innovative activities, programs, and events that help increase the availability of housing in their communities.

The Bay East Association of REALTORS® is a regional leader in promoting and supporting ownership housing for first-time and lower income families. What does this mean to REALTORS®? In addition to improving communities by increasing the percentage of residents who are home owners the Bay East Housing Opportunities Program also creates transaction opportunities for Bay East REALTORS® and Affiliates.

Want to learn more about helping first-time and lower-income homebuyers? Want to network with other real estate professionals who are making a difference by promoting home ownership?

A great way to get involved and help Bay East achieve its Housing Opportunities goals is to join the Housing Opportunities Council (HOC). The HOC was formed to identify, develop and promote programs that enhance the opportunity for housing choices that will accommodate all economic levels within the communities. The Council advocates and educates members and the public on housing assistance programs and developments; and creates and promotes opportunities that involve REALTORS® in the Housing Opportunity initiatives at the local, state and national levels.

The HOC meets monthly and provides a great opportunity for you to not only help make homeownership a possibility, but also to grow your business, too.
